My Journey From Overcoming Obesity to Miss Wellness NSW! 🤸‍♀️

48kg lost and 8 years of data tracking later… Data science proved it could transform not just numbers, but my entire life.

Who is ‘That Athlete’?
At age 8, my family immigrated from North Africa to Europe. I didn’t speak the language, my parents were busy trying to care for a sick child and build a life from scratch, taking me to after-school sports was nowhere near a priority.
Back then, food became the solution to all my problems, sweets were my anxiety relief. My way to cope. My comfort.

The numbers tell me I’m not alone:
Research shows that more than 60% of children who use food to deal with stress develop unhealthy habits later in life—either overeating and becoming obese or restricting themselves dangerously. In fact, 70% of these children will struggle with obesity or disordered eating as adults, according to the WHO.
I was one of them. By my teens, my childhood coping mechanism turned into a health crisis. I faced obesity, PCOS, joint issues, and even risks of cancer (Nothing to worry about now, this is sooo.. 2022!).

But that’s not where my story ends. Here’s the best part:

As of last Saturday, I am Miss Wellness NSW.
I won a gold medal in the state natural bodybuilding competition.
I went from an overweight child to an athlete, all in 8 years. But to be honest it could have been done within way less time. It was a journey of trials and errors, and data played a key role in every decision I made. I tracked everything—from calories in various apps to pain, sleep, and performance in spreadsheets. I learned how to turn information into action, transforming my body and mind.
But this journey wasn’t easy, and it took years of learning, collecting, and experimenting to understand what worked for me.

And now, I want to change that. I want to help others have a shortcut—a better way to reach their goals with clarity and support that I didn’t have back then.

If my story resonates, and if you’ve ever felt like you’re struggling alone in your fitness journey, stay tuned. I’ve got something exciting to share soon.

P.S. I’d love to know—what childhood habit still influences your life today? Good or bad, share below. Let’s talk about it.
